In‑House Legal Counsel – Commercial Contracts

An established, growing professional services business is seeking an In‑House Legal Counsel to take ownership of all commercial legal matters across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded solicitor to join a values‑driven company where you’ll have genuine autonomy, influence, and visibility with senior leadership.
The Role
You will be the lead expert for the business, leading on:
* Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (including consultancy contracts, supplier agreements, NDAs, SLAs, and frameworks).
* Advising directors and senior stakeholders on legal risk and commercial strategy.
* Supporting corporate governance, statutory filings, and company secretarial responsibilities.
* Assisting with M&A activity, including due diligence and transaction support.
* Providing guidance on data protection/GDPR, employment matters, and internal policy updates.
* Managing relationships with external lawyers where specialist advice is required.
About You
* Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), with a minimum of 3-4 PQE.
* Strong background in commercial and contract law.
* Experience within an in‑house or SME environment is advantageous.
* Confident communicator able to translate legal concepts clearly for non‑lawyers.
* Comfortable operating independently and prioritising a varied workload.
* Comfortable working in a Sole Counsel capacity.
