This is an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker with relevant experience in mental health to join the Adult Social Care Mental Health Team (2 posts available) on a fixed term contract basis. You will undertake high quality, strengths-based and personalised assessment and support planning in line with the Care Act and Mental Health Act, with an emphasis on prevention. You will work as part of a busy, dynamic team, effectively prioritising and responding flexibly to incoming adult social care requests for people experiencing mental health challenges in York. As part of the role, you will hold a caseload of people experiencing mental health challenges and complex/multiple needs, working to the wellbeing principles of the Care Act, upholding principles of the Mental Capacity Act, and considering peoples needs under S117 Mental Health act as well as ensuring timeley, safe discharge home. The role includes undertaking Safeguarding S42 enquiries and planning with multiple agencies, as required for people on your caseload. You will also provide a duty social worker function (on rota basis) and be able to assess needs and risk in more urgent situations, making prompt proportionate, evidence based, accountable decisions. As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly.
