Overview
Join our Security and Parking team at North Bristol NHS Trust. You will help ensure a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors by conducting patrols, responding to incidents, writing reports, and enforcing the site traffic policy. IT literacy and digital competence are necessary for receiving and reporting on handheld devices. You may interact with individuals who are distressed or have mental health or learning difficulties, requiring clear, advanced communication, calm decision making, and autonomy.
Responsibilities
* Provide a pro-active, well presented, professional, uniformed security presence for North Bristol NHS Trust.
* Respond to incidents on Trust property, including investigations into suspicious behaviours or criminal activities such as theft and anti-social behaviour.
* Remain calm and professional under pressure during incidents.
* Support clinical staff as required, including attendance at clinical incidents and, where appropriate, the use of clinical holding and physical restraint in line with applicable law and policy.
* Ensure safety and welfare of Trust staff, patients, and others; protect Trust property from damage or theft; promote a safe environment to reduce crime.
* Accurately record every incident, gather relevant information, and complete detailed reports.
* Maintain an effective security presence in Emergency Department (ED) areas on a rotational basis, intercepting poor behaviours and ensuring ED services are not disrupted.
* Assist with fire alarm evacuations and enforce the Trust Parking policy; assist with car park cash collections and traffic management as required.
* Keep up-to-date with national and local Health & Safety requirements and report breaches or near misses as per policy; support equality and diversity initiatives.
Main duties
* Provide a pro-active, professional security presence, working unsupervised, across day, night, and weekend shifts.
* Lead responding to incidents on Trust property and undertake investigations into suspicious behaviour or crime.
* Respond to incidents with urgency, remaining calm under pressure.
* Assist with detention of patients under the Mental Health Act 2007 and Mental Capacity Act 2005 where appropriate.
* Attend clinical incidents to provide support to clinical staff and ensure safe outcomes.
* Detect and investigate criminality on Trust property; keep detailed incident records.
* Maintain security in ED areas and ensure patient services are not disrupted.
* Complete site-specific patrols and internal/external inspections; conduct risk-aware reporting and maintain notebooks.
* Provide safeguarding and security training as required; support fire evacuations and coordinate with relevant services.
* Uphold the Trust Parking policy and assist with parking management and carry out related tasks.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and promote Equality, Diversity & Inclusion policies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Essential: SIA License.
* Essential: GCSE or higher in English Language (spoken and written).
* Essential: Minimum 2 years security experience.
* Essential: Experience working for a large organisation.
* Essential: Hold a valid UK Driving Licence.
* Essential: IT literate and proficient in ICT.
* Essential: Honest, trustworthy, credible with excellent communication and people skills.
Employment details
* Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, rota pattern including days, nights, and weekends.
