Join to apply for the Phlebotomist role at Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association.
Working Part Time: 30 hours per week. Monday to Sunday working between the hours of 7:30am - 18:00pm. The role includes working within The Countess of Chester Hospital on inpatient wards, outpatient services, as well as clinic settings. The post includes working at all listed locations, including GP bloods and offsite locations such as a GP Phlebotomy Hub in Ellesmere Port and ward/outpatient services in Ellesmere Port Hospital.
The Phlebotomy team covers weekend duties on a rotational basis; therefore flexibility of the successful candidate is essential.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
* Collection of samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures.
* Accurate, legible labeling of all samples to confirm patient identity.
* Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible.
* Recording collection of blood sample via electronic method.
* Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
* Ensuring that anomalies or incidents are reported to a senior member of staff and reported via the Datix incident reporting system.
* Liaising with laboratory staff.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients and works within the Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Services are provided from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital, Ellesmere Port Hospital, and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check; costs will be deducted from salary over the first three months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £16 per year applies. New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
