This position is based in Bridgwater with hybrid working (three days in the office, two from home). Relocation assistance is available for those moving closer to site.
We are looking for a
Construction Project Engineer – Mechanical
. In this role, you'll work closely with project and site teams to ensure the mechanical scope is delivered to the highest safety, quality, schedule, and cost standards. You'll take responsibility for technical leadership, documentation, and effective stakeholder coordination.
* Lead mechanical scope delivery aligned to project execution plans.
* Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams including suppliers and installation contractors.
* Monitor mechanical progress, costs and schedules against project milestones.
* Develop technical specifications in collaboration with construction and commissioning teams.
* Facilitate and chair mechanical‑focused project meetings, ensuring contract compliance.
* Identify and manage mechanical‑related risks and issues, escalating when needed.
* Maintain up‑to‑date project documentation: PEPs, quality plans and briefs.
* Promote and uphold rigorous health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
Essential Skills
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Solid experience delivering projects from concept to operation.
* Strong command of project management principles (APM).
* Experience in a highly‑regulated industry.
* Proficient in safety‑critical environments with strong H&S culture.
* Ability to manage budgets, schedules and commercial frameworks.
* Skilled in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for project documentation.
Desired Skills
* Familiarity with CDM regulations and H&S at Work legislation.
* Prior involvement in procurement and tender processes.
* Knowledge of Quality Assurance systems and governance frameworks.
* Exposure to pre‑operations or commissioning teams.
