Post 16-19 Teaching Assistant (an interest in ELSA is desirable but not essential)

Salary: FTE £27,634 - £29,604 (Pro Rata £19,811)

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant, with a minimum of grade C or above, or equivalent, in Maths & English. An interest in ELSA for Post 16 is preferable but not necessary.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who would love to assist our 16-19 year olds in increasing their confidence and independence through developing their life skills.

All current staff support our pupils with their emotional and social well-being, peer issues and help students to regulate themselves. Being compassionate, dedicated and a good listener are vital parts of the job. An interest in emotional literacy is needed if wanting to undertake the ELSA role. If successful, you'll work closely with children who need additional emotional support, helping them develop resilience, self-esteem, and healthy coping strategies.

Do you have…

•Passion, drive, enthusiasm and a willingness to go the extra mile to make a real difference to the lives of all our pupils with special educational needs and disabilities
•The ability to work as a co-operative and flexible team member
•Self-motivation and high expectations of yourself and others
•Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to motivate and engage pupils that face daily challenges and barriers to learning
•Excellent numeracy and literacy skills

If so, we want you!

In return, we will welcome you to a school with:

•Vibrant, inquisitive and enthusiastic pupils and the opportunities to gain knowledge, understanding and experience in the field of SEND.
•If interested in ELSA training, we will provide this as well as ongoing CPD, support and supervisions.

We have high expectations for our pupils and are committed to collaborative working in order to achieve the best possible outcomes and to maximise their opportunities. We believe that education for our pupils is about preparation for life and feel very privileged to be able to support them to realise their potential. We believe that children who enjoy their education will engage with learning.

Every child at Woodfield is unique and with the right interventions and support, all young people can achieve. Woodfield is a thriving and vibrant learning environment for secondary age students with learning difficulties, where all students are challenged to work to the very best of their ability.

We know that students learn best here when they feel safe, valued and can adopt a 'can try' attitude. Routines, understood and followed by all members of the school ensure a calm and consistent environment, alongside excellent behaviour management. We can offer a friendly, supportive working environment with variety and opportunity for further professional development.

Woodfield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our pupils and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to two satisfactory references, a medical health check and an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

Closing date: 4th January 2026
Interviews will be week commencing 12th January 2026
