Sarah is 19 years old, lives at home with her family in Bromley, and attends college four days per week (pre Covid-19, we are hopeful this will resume ASAP). Sarah has cerebral palsy; she uses a walking aid and a wheelchair for long distances. She is extremely independent and requires practical hands-on support. Sarah loves animals; she has two dogs, a rabbit, a chinchilla, and a tortoise, so an animal lover is essential for this role.
This is a typical support role, focused on enabling and facilitating Sarah to live her life independently and as she wishes. As Sarah’s support worker, your role will involve providing practical hands-on support with physical tasks, personal care, life admin duties, managing diary/appointments, college drop-offs and pick-ups, and accessing activities and social events. Sarah has occupational and physiotherapy plans in place, and training will be provided by her therapists to support her and implement these programs at home, in hydrotherapy, or in the gym.
This role would suit an experienced female support worker with previous experience supporting a young adult with a physical disability.
For this role, you must be a confident driver and a non-smoker. Enjoying swimming would be an advantage.
