The Role
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across a class or year group, including children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will help ensure pupils understand learning objectives, remain on task, and make measurable progress.
Typical Responsibilities
* Providing support to individual students and small groups so they understand the work set, know their learning objectives, and stay on task.
* Leading small groups in English, Maths, phonics, and reading.
* Supporting students with SEN and additional learning needs.
* Preparing resources and equipment to support teaching and learning.
* Assisting with assessments and observations as required.
* Supporting extra-curricular events and school initiatives.
* Providing pastoral support during break and lunchtimes as needed.

Essential Qualifications And Skills
* Bachelor’s degree.
* Minimum Grade C/4 in GCSE English and GCSE Maths.
* Genuine interest in pursuing a career in education.
* Strong verbal and written English.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A calm, approachable, and proactive manner.

Contract, Training and Progression
All Graduate Teaching Assistant roles are offered on an academic year contract from September 2025 to July 2026. Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistants may have the opportunity to continue the following year to complete initial teacher training via a paid SCITT programme.
