What's involved with this role: JOB TITLE: Housing Maintenance Planner and Scheduler - Social Housing REF: Cambridge 5283507 Pay rate: £19.32 to 19.81 per hour PAYE, DOE Contract Type: Temporary, Anticipated 6 months Working Arrangement: Hybrid working available but prepared to be onsite 3-4 days a week between 09:00 to 17:00. Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role. The role: On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Lead Works Planner, within a Building Services and Maintenance team, with a background in social housing sector, housing maintenance. You will Lead the work planning team, including mentoring and guiding work planners and administrative staff to achieve high standards of service delivery. It is essential that you are local and prepared to be onsite 3-4 days a week between 09:00 to 17:00, some home working possible depending on service need. Must have strong line management skills. Key Responsibilities: Lead initiatives to improve work planning, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction while maintaining compliance with industry standards. Deputise for the Service Improvement Manager, ensuring effective resource use and high-quality service delivery. Oversee and manage work allocation across teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to optimise workload distribution, especially during peak demand. Develop and implement efficient work allocation processes considering resources, priorities, and customer needs. Set, monitor, and analyse KPIs, performance data, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement. Act as the senior contact for escalated customer complaints, ensuring prompt and satisfactory resolution. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex service issues and ensure accurate job tracking and completion within deadlines and budgets. Prepare and present performance reports, manage confidential information, and coordinate with Stores to maintain adequate materials and equipment. What the client is looking for: Experience of working with a Housing Association / Local Authority or Maintenance Contractor in either a scheduling or customer service capacity Experience of using database systems (e.g. MRI) and MS Office applications including Excel Building construction experience and/or trade Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role Budget management / financial tasks (raising purchase orders, processing invoices etc Knowledge gained in a similar role with a trade-based workforce Good understanding of housing related regulations, policies and best practice Strong understanding of property maintenance and able to demonstrate a good understanding of working practices in construction and its terminology Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation in relation to property maintenance.
