We are seeking highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager - telehandler & material handling products to join our team, specialising in telehandler and Material Handling products. This role involves managing the entire sales process, from identifying and developing new business opportunities to maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales targets, driving revenue growth, and ensuring customer satisfaction through exceptional service and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Business Development
* Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet and exceed sales targets.
* Identify new business opportunities and actively seek out potential customers.
* Expand the client base by engaging with key decision-makers in target industries.
* Promote and sell a range of machinery products, ensuring alignment with customer needs.
* Monitor market trends, collect industry and competitor information, and develop sales strategies.
* Lead the product development team to improve products to meet market demands.
* Assist with product certification and licensing in the UK and Ireland to ensure compliance with local regulations and market entry requirements.
Customer Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to drive repeat business.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing excellent customer service.
* Conduct regular follow-ups and site visits to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
* Handle customer inquiries, provide technical guidance, and resolve issues efficiently.
* Monitor and manage sales budgets, ensuring alignment with company revenue goals.
* Prepare accurate sales reports, forecasts, and performance analysis for management.
* Negotiate pricing and contract terms with customers to maximize profitability.
* Chase outstanding payments and ensure timely collections from clients.
Coordination with Other Departments
* Collaborate closely with the service, parts, and aftermarket teams to ensure seamless support for customers.
* Work with finance and accounts teams to track payments, credit terms, and financial documentation.
* Coordinate with marketing to develop promotional strategies, campaigns, and customer engagement initiatives.
* Engage with logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of machinery and parts.
* Address any customer concerns related to machinery performance, service, and repairs.
Other tasks assigned by line managers
Key Requirements:
* Proven experience in forklift sales, material handling equipment, or related industrial machinery sectors.
* Strong sales acumen with a demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets, particularly in B2B environments.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage decision-makers in logistics, warehousing, and manufacturing sectors.
* Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts and distribution partners.
* Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing to the wider sales team.
* Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple clients and complex sales cycles.
* Familiarity with CRM systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Full UK driving license (or equivalent) and willingness to travel across assigned regions for client visits and site demonstrations.
