Job Role - Business Development Manager / Director

Location: Fully Remote (UK-based))

Salary: Competitive, with flexibility based on experience. Includes base salary plus performance-based commission

But our mission doesn’t stop there. Alongside our sustainability goals, we're expanding our impact by helping people affected by homelessness find long-term employment in the cleaning industry.


Our products—a full range of paper products, soap and laundry —are already popular with thousands of individual subscribers. Our B2B customers include the likes of; Mitie, Andron, CBRE, JLL & Zurich and we’re now doubling down on B2B growth to bring our mission to more businesses across the UK.


A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Business Development Professional to accelerate the growth of our B2B sales arm. This is a high-impact role with huge potential, especially as we deepen our relationship with key distributor Bunzl.


You should be ready to hit the ground running—working closely with key accounts, nurturing and developing existing leads, and identifying opportunities beyond your core category to drive broader business growth.


You’ll own the end-to-end sales process—from identifying prospects to closing deals and managing long-term partnerships. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, lean team where autonomy, adaptability, and resourcefulness are key. We’re a fast-moving, mission-driven team—so you’ll need to be comfortable taking initiative, adapting quickly, and helping shape how we grow.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Identify and convert new B2B leads into long-term customers

· Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, tracking activity in HubSpot

· Develop and execute account strategies for key partners

· Work closely with Bunzl to maximise shared commercial opportunities

· Manage and grow relationships with existing clients and channel partners

· Conduct market and competitor research to spot opportunities and inform outreach

· Collaborate with Marketing to align on lead generation and promotional campaigns

· Represent Serious at industry events, trade shows, and networking forums

· Feed insights back to Product and Operations teams to help shape future offerings

· Help define and continuously improve sales processes and systems

· Stay up-to-date with sustainability and cleaning industry developments

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

· 3+ years in a B2B sales role, ideally in consumables, hygiene, or the cleaning industry

· Proven experience developing business through distributors—especially Bunzl or similar

· Passionate about sustainability and social enterprise

· Strategic thinker who’s comfortable working autonomously in a remote environment

· Commercially savvy and target-driven

· Excellent communicator with strong relationship-building skills

· Thrives in a small, agile team—comfortable working in an environment that’s still evolving and not overly structured

SKILLS:

· Fluent in English (written and spoken)

· Proficient with CRM systems (e.g. HubSpot), productivity tools (MS Office), and communication platforms (Slack, LinkedIn)

· Organised and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills

· Collaborative and proactive team player
