About the Role
Help us deliver Right First‑Time fabrication by ensuring every weld, component, and record meets the required standard.
You will work a rotating shift pattern, covering 6am–2pm and 2pm–10pm hours, after training is complete.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Quality Control Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring fabricated steel products are manufactured to the required specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. You will work closely with production, engineering, and programming teams to identify issues, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steelwork throughout the manufacturing process and prior to dispatch.
* Verify that products are manufactured in accordance with drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
* Identify defects and quality concerns, ensuring they are clearly documented and communicated to the relevant departments.
* Work with production, engineering and programming teams to investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
* Support the development of preventative measures to reduce recurring defects and improve overall product quality.
* Promote a "right first time" approach by providing timely feedback and support to manufacturing teams.
* Monitor and record inspection results, ensuring accurate quality records are maintained.
* Assist in developing and improving inspection processes, quality checks, and working practices.
* Ensure measuring and inspection equipment is maintained and fit for purpose through calibration.
* Support a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality throughout the business.
Essential Qualities / Experience
* Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
* Good communication skills.
* Observant with high levels of attention to detail.
* Good report writing and numeracy skills.
* Good IT skills (knowledge of MS Office 365).
* Ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable Qualities / Experience
* Knowledge of ISO 9001.
* Knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques.
* Knowledge of visual inspection, magnetic particle inspection, dye penetrant inspection.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and process controls.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
