About the opportunity
In this team lead role, you will manage a small team while actively driving the technical direction and success of our software development initiatives. As a hands-on software developer, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflow, high-quality deliverables, and adherence to best practices.
Responsibilities
1. Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust and scalable web applications using Python, Django, and related technologies.
2. Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve application performance, reliability, and user experience.
3. Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
4. Guide the team in adopting new technologies and methodologies.
5. Oversee software project delivery, ensuring timely completion, within budget, and high quality.
6. Identify and mitigate risks and issues impacting project timelines and success.
7. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the team at the forefront of innovation.
8. Contribute to developing new software features and applications as needed.
9. Lead and mentor a team of 3 developers and 1 tester, providing guidance, support, and feedback.
Requirements
1. 4+ years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 3 years in Python or Django.
2. Some experience leading or mentoring a small software development team, or deputising for a team leader.
3. Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on practical solutions.
Location
Cwmbran – minimum of one day per week in the office.
