We are recruiting on behalf of an independently run tea room and restaurant based in Radlett, Hertfordshire. Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, freshly prepared dishes within a relaxed yet professional dining environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on chef who enjoys working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and takes pride in consistent, well-executed food. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the kitchen and step up in the Head Chefs absence.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in the smooth running of the kitchen
Prepare and present dishes to a consistently high standard
Oversee kitchen operations during service and deputise when required
Maintain excellent food hygiene, health, and safety standards
Assist with menu development and daily specials
Manage stock control, ordering, and waste reduction
Support, train, and motivate junior kitchen team members
About You
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous Chef ready to step up
Experience in fresh food kitchens such as café, restaurant, or gastro-style environments
Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards
Calm, organised, and able to lead under pressure
Passionate about seasonal, well-presented food
A reliable team player with good communication skills
