Location: Any of the 10 Community Library sites: Allenton, Allestree, Blagreaves, Chaddesden, Chellaston, Derwent, Mackworth, Spondon, Springwood and Sinfin. Can you spare a sometime to volunteer at your local library? The role This is a role for someone who likes people. There are lots of potential roles for library volunteers. You may be someone who likes helping older people and you would welcome the opportunity to spend time talking to people over a hot drink, thumbing through reminiscence material. Perhaps you have the knowledge and drive to organise activities? We always need people to help with computer sessions and at Repair Cafés. You could be someone who wants to encourage young children to read and would enjoy running reading activities such as Rhymetimes or Storytimes, and dealing with school visits. Perhaps you are a confident person who could help promote library to the wider community and raise funds to buy books? Really, the possibilities are endless. What we need We need someone who is self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable talking to lots of different people. A friendly and helpful attitude, good communication skills. Familiarity with computers is essential. A knowledge of books would be useful, but not essential. Qualifications No formal qualifications are required.
