This position offers a unique opportunity to become part of the Central Planning Team within Planning and Operational Support (POpS) in the Judicial College, supporting the Lady Chief Justice and the Senior President of Tribunals in delivering high-quality judicial training. The Strategy and Planning Manager will play a pivotal role in coordinating a dynamic training programme, working collaboratively with both judicial and College colleagues. Judicial Office The Judicial Office (JO) reports to, and is accountable, to the Lady Chief Justice (LCJ). It was established in 2006 to provide support to the LCJ and to the wider judiciary in upholding the rule of law and in delivering justice impartially, speedily and efficiently, following the Constitutional Reform Act 2005. In addition, we support, and are accountable to, the Senior President of Tribunals, whose responsibilities extend to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

You will work collaboratively within POpS, across other parts of Judicial College and wider and engaging with senior stakeholders, including judiciary, to lead and support the production of the Judicial College training programmes. Using complex data, you will gain a thorough understanding of judicial recruitment and induction plans, assessing and delivering continuation training needs, monitoring capacities and timings, and ensuring you are up to date with any programme changes. You will also be instrumental in the production of the annual prospectus for one or more areas of the college, by leading and supporting the project management of the collaborative work. This will require you to coordinate scheduling, ensure deadlines are met, and maintain clear communication channels between all parties involved. You will be expected to track project milestones, identify risks or issues early, and escalate them where necessary to ensure the smooth delivery of Judicial College training programmes. Effective documentation and proactive planning will be key to staying on top of evolving requirements and ensuring objectives are achieved within set timeframes.


Responsibilities

* Actively contributing to the development and continuous improvement of training programmes by analysing data and working in partnership with operational delivery teams and judicial trainers.
* Leading and supporting the project management and delivery of the annual prospectuses, particularly in your allocated area of work.
* Working with a range of stakeholders (including colleagues across the Judicial Office, Her Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service, Ministry of Justice and judiciary) to plan, manage and monitor new and emerging training needs, including recruitment needs.
* Supporting relations between the college and the venue broker.
* Overseeing and keeping abreast of any programme changes in your given area.
* Actively contributing to the development and delivery of continuous improvement projects and assist with the delivery of the Planning and Operational Support Team's business plan.
* Line management of one or two Executive Officers (EO).

You will report to the Senior Strategy and Planning Manager (SEO). The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity. Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone's circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review. For nationally advertised role: all successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office nearest to their home postcode and on its respective pay scale. This will be at either a HQ building (subject to desk allocation, a Justice Collaboration Centre (JCC) or a Justice Satellite Office (JSO) - See Map. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity). For current MoJ employees, your base location will need to be changed to the nearest viable office (to your home postcode), either at a HQ building, JCC or JSO within the National Office Network and moved its location's respective pay scale (any legacy arrangements/locations will need to be amended). Some of MoJ's terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made. MoJ candidates who are on a specialist grade, will be able to retain their grade on lateral transfer. All candidates who are currently in receipt of Mark Time / Pay Protection should ensure they are familiar with the new policy on permanent and temporary promotion which can be found on the employee intranet. Flexible working hours The Ministry of Justice offers a flexible working system in many offices. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. MoJ welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. All applications for part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns will be considered in accordance with the MoJ's Flexible Working policy.


Salary and Benefits

The national salary range is £35,335 - £37,847, London salary range is £40,014 - £42,859. Your salary will be dependent on your base location.

* Annual Leave: 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years' service. There is also a scheme to allow qualifying staff to buy or sell up to three days leave each year. Additional paid time off for public holidays and 1 privilege day. Leave for part-time and job share posts will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.
