If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Hillingdon Council as a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Coordinator.
About the Role:
As a DoLS Coordinator, you will support the Council’s responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 by coordinating and administering the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards process. You will ensure that applications are legally compliant, processed efficiently, and monitored closely — all while maintaining clear and empathetic communication with professionals and families.
Key responsibilities include:
* Reviewing and processing statutory DoLS Forms (Forms 3, 4 and 5) to ensure compliance and timely authorisations.
* Managing daily queries via the DoLS inbox and telephone line, including from families, social care professionals, and other stakeholders.
* Supporting Best Interests Assessors (BIAs) with guidance on protocols and case-related questions.
* Reviewing reports and recommendations from Paid Relevant Person’s Representatives (RPRs).
* Supporting the delivery of MCA and DoLS workshops to promote awareness and training.
* Maintaining up-to-date and accurate records, supporting audits and statutory reporting.
* Identifying opportunities for service improvement and contributing to the ongoing development of the DoLS function.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Experienced in administration within a health, legal, or social care setting.
* Knowledgeable about the Mental Capacity Act and the DoLS framework (or willing to learn).
* Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
* A confident communicator who can handle sensitive issues with empathy and professionalism.
* Discreet and reliable when dealing with confidential information.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital case management systems.
It would be great if you also have:
* Experience supporting or delivering training or workshops.
* Familiarity with legal documentation and statutory safeguarding processes.
* A background in safeguarding, compliance, or adult social care.
