Role summary
Join the Cancer Care Nursing Team within the Combined Triage and Assessment Unit (CTAU) to support the cancer patient journey when patients become unwell as a result of their treatment or diagnosis. You will contribute to telephone triaging, assessing, planning and implementing care for acutely unwell patients. CTAU operates 7 days a week with current hours: weekdays 07:30–20:00 and 08:00–18:00 on weekends and bank holidays. Winter hours are extended (08:30–21:00). There is a requirement to work 08:00–18:00 at weekends and bank holidays on a rotas basis.
CTAU is located on the cancer corridor, level 1, entrance 24, Royal Derby Hospital. Due to progression within the team, full-time and part-time permanent positions are available.

Main duties of the job
* We are ideally looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with post-registration experience in acute and/or Oncology/Haematology settings to thrive in our bespoke assessment unit.
* Support the cancer patient journey by triaging, assessing, planning and delivering care for acutely unwell patients.
* Demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, empathy, professionalism and resilience in challenging situations.
* Participate in a 24-hour triage line for patients undergoing cancer treatments seeking advice and assessment.
* Maintain rotational shifts including weekends and bank holidays as required.
