Assistant Accountant – Come Join Our Team at Hub Chartered Accountants
💼 Experience: We would like 2 years working in a relevant role within a privately owned accountancy practice. You may be working towards AAT/ACCA/ACA – or you may be QBE in which case some more experience may be required.
⏰ Hours: It is a full-time role, but would still like to hear from you if you are an excellent candidate that can only do part-time.
💷 Salary: Competitive + some nice perks.
About Us
We are working hard to stand out from your average accountants. Yes, we do the numbers. We have to do this really well to build trust, but we’re also about helping our clients at their pain-points using a fresh approach, our creativity, collaboration, and anticipation. We want to look after our clients and our staff. We do not believe this is closing the door and working in secret! Our values are the way we work day-to-day, and reflect how we want to engage with the world. They are not a sales pitch.
Aligning with these is key for the successful candidate. If that resonates with you, you’ll fit in nicely.
The Role
We’re looking for a Junior Accountant to join our friendly, close-knit team. You’ll get stuck into all sorts of work for our clients — preparing accounts, supporting with tax, helping businesses make sense of their numbers — and you’ll grow your own skills and career along the way. You will also help us implement needed change for the benefit of our clients in the long-term. This role is well suited to a natural “completer/finisher” type of personality.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Preparing accounts (with some incomplete records work, and bookkeeping for different clients)
* Supporting with tax and compliance work
* Talking with clients in a helpful, clear, friendly, and professional way
* Spotting opportunities to improve things — and suggesting solutions
* Bringing fresh ideas and asking smart questions (we love that)
* Using your initiative and taking ownership
About You
* Ideally 2 years in a similar practice role (qualified or equivalent experience)
* Local. We work flexibly, but would like to see you most of the time
* A strong communicator — you listen, explain things clearly, and make people feel at ease
* Organised with an eagle eye for detail
* Proactive — you roll your sleeves up, make things happen and get things done
* Confident around accounting and tax software and HMRC processes
And most importantly, you’ll feel at home with our values – see our website for more:
Values
* Creative & innovative – always looking for smarter ways to do things
* Collaborative – you’re a team player who builds great relationships
* Respectful, with integrity & empathy – you listen, understand, and deliver
* Ownership – you see things through properly
* Make things better – you improve processes, services, and experiences
Benefits
* Medical insurance for peace of mind, and you can add members of your family if you wish
* Group Life cover should the worst happen
* We are a small, friendly, supportive team that celebrates each other’s wins
* Flexible working when possible
* Free parking on site (no daily parking stress)
* And yes — plenty of tea and biscuits. Always
