Do you have experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour and want to make a real difference in their lives? We’re working with a specialist SEN school in Manchester that supports children and young people aged 7–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Autism (ASC), and behavioural challenges. The school is seeking a resilient, proactive Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team full-time from September.\n\nThis role is ideal for individuals with backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, social care, or residential support who are confident in building positive relationships and encouraging change.\n\nWhat You’ll Be Doing:\n\nProviding 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs\n\nImplementing behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques\n\nSupporting students to engage with learning and improve social skills\n\nEncouraging positive choices and building emotional resilience\n\nWorking closely with teaching staff, pastoral leads, and therapists to meet individual needs\n\nHelping create a safe, consistent, and supportive school environment\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\n\nPrevious experience in behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, or similar roles\n\nCalm, empathetic, and resilient under pressure\n\nConfident in managing challenging behaviour and maintaining boundaries\n\nA positive role model who inspires and motivates young people\n\nA child-only Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)\n\nWhat’s On Offer:\n\n£101.40 – £109.04 per day\n\nOngoing CPD including Behaviour Management & Team Teach training\n\nOpportunity to make a real, lasting difference in young people’s lives\n\nSupportive and experienced school leadership team\n\nPotential for permanent contracts after a successful trial period\n\nIdeal Backgrounds Include:\n\nYouth Work or Mentoring\n\nSports Coaching or Outdoor Education\n\nResidential Care or Social Care\n\nAlternative Provision or Pupil Referral Units (PRU)\n\nSEN & SEMH Teaching Assistants\n\nHow to Apply:\nIf you’re ready to use your skills to support and inspire young people with behavioural needs, apply today or get in touch
