Exclusive to Trial Balance Consulting
Finance Director - Yeovil / Hybrid - Circa: £85,000 + Car allowance + Company performance related bonus + Future share options
Not every Finance Director is cut from the same cloth. Technical skills, general management experience, and future aspirations vary widely, with some maintaining an operational focus whilst others pursue a more strategic path. A career opportunity with longevity requires careful consideration, and it can be difficult to find the perfect fit. We believe our current project breaks that mould; read on to discover why.
Trial Balance Consulting is delighted to have formed an exclusive recruitment partnership with a highly successful services business that has tasked us with sourcing their next Finance Director. This is a pivotal position with a unique and interesting remit. The role is offered as a full-time, permanent contract, primarily based at the company's headquarters near Yeovil, with scope for hybrid working and regular travel.
The recruiting company: A highly successful and unique B2B services business operating in a niche sector, specializing in commercial asset and property management, with major clients across the UK and Europe. Well established, employing over 50 staff, with a strong balance sheet and a trajectory for continued growth.
The opportunity: This FD role is distinctive. The successful candidate will work closely with the board of directors and senior management team, managing the company's financial health and strategy. Additionally, they will play a key role in managing a major aspect of the business’s service offering, including meeting with and presenting to clients, providing high-quality commercial advice, and financial performance commentary. The role encompasses operational accounting, team management, analysis, and strategic forecasting. It is a broad and hands-on position with responsibilities beyond traditional financial management.
The successful candidate: Likely a professionally qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 5 years of commercial accounting experience, currently in a senior role such as a number-one or number-two position. They should have high commercial awareness and entrepreneurial flair, with the ability to work closely with major clients and decision-makers outside of finance, as well as managing a team. The company is technology-focused, and the candidate should have strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and digital accounting tools, to produce detailed financial models for commercial properties. They should also have a good understanding of audit, compliance, and internal controls. Experience or ambitions to operate at board level are desirable.
The benefits: A competitive salary (negotiable DOE), a car allowance (£7.5K), a performance-related bonus, pension, private healthcare, life assurance, and health insurance. Future share options are anticipated.
