Job Overview
The Support Worker with Administration Duties works in a private outpatient clinic providing both clinical support and administrative assistance. The role assists clinicians with patient care, performs basic clinical tasks, and ensures smooth patient journeys and efficient clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist clinicians, nurses, and ophthalmic technicians in delivering patient care.
* Perform basic clinical tasks: measuring and recording vital signs, providing pre‑ and post‑procedure support, maintaining infection control standards, cleaning and restocking clinical areas, and managing medical equipment.
* Offer reassurance and emotional support to patients, ensuring a patient‑centred approach.
* Welcome private patients, manage check‑in processes, and handle enquiries via phone, email, and in‑person.
* Maintain and update electronic patient records (EPR) and ensure accurate documentation.
* Prepare and distribute clinic documentation, including consent forms and patient information leaflets.
* Monitor and order stock and clinical supplies, and support clinic operations.
* Assist in coordination of clinician schedules and patient pathways to improve efficiency.
* Escort patients to other clinical areas as required and transport clinical requests.
* Support the overall efficiency of the clinic by organizing clinical areas.
Required Education and Qualifications
* GCE/GCSE level education or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 Healthcare Assistant course (desirable).
Essential Experience
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment with attention to detail.
* Experience in Ophthalmology or an outpatient clinical environment (desirable).
Personal Qualities
* Good communicator.
* Customer‑care skills and experience (desirable).
* Professional, discreet, and committed to high standards in a private setting.
Other Requirements
Proof of eligibility to work in the UK, a satisfactory DBS disclosure, and two references are required. Visa sponsorship is not offered.
