We’re looking for a Technical Manager to join our Admiral Business Claims team. This is a key role requiring deep technical expertise and experience in managing complex commercial insurance claims.
Responsibilities
1. Overseeing the claims handling of our highest value bodily injury claims, including: Providing support and direction to our supply chain Developing & maintaining our relationship with EUI’s Claims Department, ensuring Admiral Business benefits from EUI’s market-leading capabilities Claim reviewing & auditing support
2. Supporting our supplier relationship management & procurement activities, where specific expertise or advice is required.
3. Travel, including supplier & broker visits will be required.
4. Using MI & data to assess performance, identify opportunities for improvement and/or issues that require intervention.
5. Seek ways to improve innovation in processes, reduce costs, manage and reduce risk and stimulate performance improvement.
6. Designing solutions that develop great customer outcomes whilst contributing to efficient loss ratio results.
7. Direct, hands-on claims & complaint handling, where required.
8. Provide referral advice and action plans to claims handlers, following up to ensure all relevant points are complete.
9. Maintain market awareness of the commercial claims market and associated categories.
10. Contribute to the cultivation of technical expertise within the department by taking part in training, coaching and other development activities for members of the Admiral Business Claims department.
Requirements
Essential
11. Proven expertise in one or more of the specialist areas outlined below. Handling bodily injury claims, including cases valued in excess of £m Managing liability claims, including EL/PL and road traffic incidents Experience with litigation processes Resolving complex indemnity queries Supply chain management, particularly for complex and high-value claims
12. In-depth knowledge of insurance principles, risk management, and claims handling.
13. Strong understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements.
14. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and drive decisions.
15. Experience in training and coaching, supporting team development and technical growth.
Desirable
16. Professional qualifications such as ACII, FCII, CILA equivalent, or relevant legal credentials.
17. Outstanding organisational and time management skills, able to prioritise effectively.
18. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
19. Highly detail-oriented and committed to accuracy.
20. Proficient in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
21. Strong literacy and numeracy skills to support data-driven decision-making.
