Bridging Underwriter
Location : Mayfair (London)
Hours Monday - Friday (no weekends)
Hybrid working - 3 days in the office 2 days from home
Job Purpose:
The Underwriter is responsible for evaluating loan applications, assessing associated risks, and making informed decisions on approvals. They ensure the integrity of loan documentation and maintain high standards of service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Evaluate loan documentation, including valuation reports, and request additional information when necessary, while addressing any concerns.
* Conduct checks on applicants and properties to assess suitability for applied loans.
* Proactively chase outstanding information from third parties and provide timely updates to introducers.
* Recommend and refer cases requiring exception approval to the appropriate authority.
* Liaise with introducers, valuers, and solicitors.
* Provide support and guidance to colleagues on underwriting and mortgage completion matters.
* Manage decisions on enquiries and new applications within agreed time frames.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of lending propositions.
Core Skills:
* Previous underwriting experience, preferably in bridging residential, HMOs, commercial, and refurbishment loans.
* Understanding of regulatory environments, particularly TCF (Treating Customers Fairly).
* Exceptional customer service skills.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills.
* Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
* Proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
