Job Overview
Forest Row Nursery is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated Nursery Supervisor to lead our nursery provision and ensure a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for our youngest learners.
Hours: 37 per week. Working pattern: Full‑time, Part‑time, Term‑time only (39 weeks a year plus 6.05 weeks annual leave, which will increase after 5 years of continuous service). As the position is part‑time/term‑time only, the above salary will be pro‑rata.
The Nursery Supervisor will play a key role in delivering high‑quality early years education and care. You will be responsible for planning and implementing the nursery curriculum, supervising staff on a day‑to‑day basis, and ensuring that all statutory and safeguarding requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead on long‑term, medium‑term and session planning to ensure children work towards desirable learning outcomes.
* Deliver high‑quality teaching and ensure staff are effectively deployed to support children’s learning and development.
* Oversee the daily programme of nursery activities and events.
* Carry out observations and maintain accurate records of children’s progress.
* Monitor the quality of teaching and identify training needs within the team.
* Maintain all required records, including accident and incident logs.
* Build strong relationships with parents/carers, sharing information and encouraging involvement in the nursery.
* Ensure the nursery environment is safe, hygienic and well‑maintained, with robust safety procedures in place.
* Contribute to and implement all nursery policies and procedures.
* Attend relevant training and meetings.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* RQF Level 3 qualification in Childcare and Education (or equivalent).
* Evidence of recent and relevant professional development.
* Experience working in a childcare setting, including supporting children with special educational needs.
