Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of our small and unique nurture school.

In this role you will be teaching primary pupils with strong social and emotional mental health needs. The Robert Holme Academy caters for children who may have struggled to succeed in mainstream environments due to challenging behaviour, SEMH and/or additional complex needs. Experience working with children and within a SEND setting is therefore essential.

This particular vacancy is for a teacher within the EYFS level nurture provision within the school. Although this is stage, not age and children can range in ages. The teacher will oversee 2 rooms of up to 3 children, each with their own LSA and with another Instructor. EYFS experience is vital and a PACE approach with play based learning is essential.

The pupils who attend this school are vulnerable, so this role requires someone who is reliable and able to build strong bonds with the pupils that attend. You will need to be approachable and patient and be able to maintain effective rapport with the pupils. You will work closely with a Learning Support Assistant(s) to manage a class of up to 6 pupils - usually 3. Alongside a flexible academic curriculum, pupils require targeted individual interventions to support learning needs as well as reviewing and identifying key outcomes.

Key Duties

The principle responsible for the role include to:

* contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical, emotional, and social needs of the students;
* work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
* create engaging, uplifting, and supportive lessons that meet the needs of individuals in your class;
* maintain and use short, medium and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum;
* set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for everyone;
* monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, external agencies, and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through RHA policies and procedures;
* maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate;
* develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes;
* contribute to the overall School Improvement Plan to maintain continuous improvement;
* contribute to reports, reviews and target setting for your pupils.

Criteria

The successful candidate will:

* be a resilient character;
* be able to adapt to challenging situations;
* have previous experience of supporting children who display challenging behaviour, including 2 years (min) Primary/SEND experience;
* have PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training preferable but will consider UQT or Tutor;
* be able to teach a range of subjects;
* have relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH, ACEs and PDA profile;
* be fun and a team player who enjoys working with children
* have a comprehensive knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection protocols;
* be experienced in a range of approaches to managing challenging behaviours.
