About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic RVN to become a valued member of our Surgical Suite nursing team.

As a Surgical RVN, you'll be working closely with our fantastic nursing team, which includes 6 full-time RVNs, 6 part-time RVNs, 6 dedicated surgical suite Patient Care Assistants, along with our amazing Specialist Surgeons and Anaesthetists.

Your role will involve providing support for surgical patients from a wide range of disciplines, offering incredible variety and learning opportunities. This means you'll get exposure to cases in cardiology, soft tissue, orthopaedics, neurology, ophthalmology, and our primary care service.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Providing high-quality peri-operative care for our surgical patients.
* Monitoring anaesthesia, including emergency and critically ill patients.
* Preparing patients for surgery and scrubbing into procedures if needed.
* Handling both general and theatre nursing duties, including the maintenance and preparation of sterile supplies and instruments.
* Keeping accurate records.
* Maintaining excellent infection control protocols .

As a Surgical RVN, you need to be an excellent communicator and have a genuine desire to continuously improve clinical standards. You will use all your nursing skills, so it’s important you are confident and capable in all core nursing duties, including anaesthesia monitoring, intravenous catheter placement, drug dosage calculation, handling and administration, blood sampling, and patient recovery. While previous referral experience is desirable, it's absolutely not essential as we will provide comprehensive training and support to help you excel in this role.

This is a full-time position, averaging 38 hours per week, with shifts between 7 am and 9 pm, and just 1 in 6 weekends.

Salary from £28,000, depending on experience
