Position: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Nottingham
Salary: >£24404 Part Time
Role: Part Time – Permanent – 32.5 hours/ 37 hours
Mayfield Recruitment are currently looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant in the Nottingham area on a permanent part time basis. The position will be working with primary school children as well as working closely with class Teachers and other school staff to ensure the children are fully supported.
Key Responsibilities for the SEND Teaching Assistant:
•Supporting children to grow, learn and develop in an environment rich with opportunities, high expectations and fun.
•Encouraging pupils to act independently as appropriate and fostering self-esteem and resilience.
•Supporting the needs of every child, with the expectation that every child can and will succeed.
•Preparing the classroom environment
•Being aware of pupil barriers to learning, progress, achievements and able to adapt activities as discussed with the class teacher and SENCO.
•Supporting pupils in their learning in all areas of the curriculum,
•Delivering targeted interventions and specific programmes under the guidance of teaching staff and SENCO,
•Assisting with the supervision of children at break times including lunchtimes.
The SEND Teaching Assistant Will:
•Ensure the safe organisation of learning activities and the physical teaching space
•Appreciate and support the role of other professionals.
•Be aware of confidential issues linked to home, pupil, teacher, school and work
•Carry out any other curriculum duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities/grade of the post as defined,
•Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons
•Attend safeguarding training as required by the school
•Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, copyright etc.
•Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
•Recognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support others.
•Be a flexible and supportive member of the team.
