Trainee Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools in Cardiff

A wonderful opportunity has opened up at several welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Cardiff for a Trainee Teaching Assistant to start this term.
This role is ideal for anyone eager to gain hands-on classroom experience before progressing into teaching, special educational needs (ALN), pastoral support, or educational psychology.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support teachers across a range of year groups and subjects
* Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils who need extra help
* Assist with classroom preparation, learning materials, and engaging displays
* Encourage positive behaviour and help track pupils’ progress
* Build strong, trusting relationships with staff, pupils, and parents
* Take part in regular training and receive ongoing support throughout your placement

* Enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated to helping children learn and grow
* Confident communicator and reliable team player
* Punctual, organised, and proactive in the classroom
* Open to feedback and keen to develop new skills
Desirable Experience (Not Essential):
* Any previous experience or volunteering with children (schools, clubs, youth groups, etc.)
* A genuine interest in working in education or childcare
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
