About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead and deliver technically robust geotechnical solutions across a diverse project portfolio. This is a key role within the team, combining technical leadership, project management and client engagement.
Responsibilities
* Lead the planning, design and delivery of ground investigations
* Interpret geotechnical data and produce factual and interpretative reports
* Provide foundation and earthworks design recommendations
* Undertake geotechnical risk assessments and slope stability analysis
* Manage projects from tender stage through to completion
* Liaise directly with clients, contractors and regulatory bodies
* Supervise site works including drilling, trial pitting and testing
* Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and quality management systems
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar
* 6+ years' relevant consultancy experience
Required Skills
* Strong knowledge of UK ground investigation standards and Eurocodes
* Experience producing interpretative reports and foundation design recommendations
* Proficient in relevant geotechnical software (e.g. SLOPE/W, AutoCAD, etc.)
* Working towards or already Chartered (ICE or Geological Society desirable)
* Full UK driving licence
Preferred Skills
* Chartered status (ICE or Geological Society)
* Strong experience working with UK ground conditions, including brownfield sites
* Advanced foundation design experience (shallow and piled solutions)
* Experience designing retaining structures and earthworks
* Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SLOPE/W, WALLAP and AutoCAD
* Experience acting as a technical reviewer / checking engineer
* Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets
* Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers
* Experience contributing to tenders or business development activities
* Full understanding of UK standards including Eurocodes, BS 5930 and BS 1377
