Description & Requirements
Freight Handler / Yard Hand Driver – a rotating role of three weeks freight handling followed by one week yard‑hand driving (HC truck licence required).
Responsibilities
* Freight handling (approx. 3 of every 4 weeks):
o Hand‑loading parcels and cartons from conveyor belts into trucks.
o Unloading trucks when drivers return.
o Wrapping freight by hand or with a shrink wrapper.
o Electronically scanning parcels and updating documentation.
o Operating a forklift as required.
* Yard hand driving (approx. 1 week every 4 weeks):
o Opening rear doors, cracking seals and inspecting freight.
o Determining where freight needs to go (skill developed on the job).
o Placing items or carting them to the appropriate area.
o Ensuring set‑up sheets are followed.
o Answering two‑way calls for movements across the depot.
Qualifications
* Fit, able to lift at least 30 kg (assessed by pre‑employment medical).
* Laser focus, able to remain attentive on repetitive tasks.
* HC truck licence mandatory.
* Forklift licence advantageous.
* Team player, passionate about supporting the community.
* Australian citizen or permanent resident.
Compensation & Benefits
* Monday to Friday, 5:30 am – 1:30 pm (7.5 hours per day).
* Pay: $33.14 ph for freight work; upgraded to $36.14 ph as yard truck driver.
* 12 % superannuation.
