A fixed term vacancy for a period of 12 months has arisen in our Department for an assistant psychologist to work within the Intellectual Disability Psychology Service.
This post will support existing clinicians in assessments, training and referral management. Applications are invited from an enthusiastic and energetic individual who wants to play key roles in offering evidence-based psychological assessment and therapies to this population. This is an exciting new post on a fixed basis part-funded by NES to promote psychological training and support to this client group and its workforce. The role will involve assessments, observations, interventions (under supervision) as well as training and supporting referral management and service development.
This role will also involve data management. The post holder will assist in the monitoring of HEAT target outcomes, capacity and efficiency measurement which will enable more accurate reporting and compliance with Government targets. The post-holder will work directly with Clinical Psychologists and other Mental Health practitioners to select and secure appropriate psychological assessment measures and to facilitate the development, implementation and standardization of appropriate outcome measures for new developments.
The Department, which now has a complement of around 90 staff, has psychologists and psychological therapists in all major specialties and is a friendly, supportive and lively place of work. We currently have strong links with Edinburgh and Stirling/Dundee Universities and take trainees from the Edinburgh Doctorate course and from the MSc course in Stirling/Dundee. We also provide placements and supervision for trainee CBT and other psychological therapists. The post has dedicated CPD and supervision time.
Hybrid working arrangements may be considered to allow for a blended approach of home and office working, depending on service or clinical need. Please note, all clinical work is conducted from clinical locations across the region.
