Diabetes Specialist Nurse Band 6

We are pleased to offer two fantastic opportunities to join our team:

* Permanent Part-Time Position- 18.75 hours per week
* Fixed-Term Full-Time Position- 1 year duration

In this role, you will provide expert clinical advice and develop individualised treatment plans for inpatients. You will also support and educate ward staff in the effective management of patients with diabetes.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a genuine interest in diabetes care. Evidence of relevant experience in diabetes is essential.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver expert advice, support, and information to patients from diagnosis through to curative, palliative, and end-of-life care. Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team across hospital and community settings, they will ensure the delivery of a coordinated, high-quality diabetes service.

In addition, they will actively contribute to education, clinical audit, and research activities. The post holder will take a leading role in multidisciplinary team meetings, driving discussions to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Qualifications and Training - RGN 1st level or relevant Children's qualification
* Current NMC Registration
* 1st Degree in nursing or health related subject, willing to undertake/ working towards
* Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
* Willingness to work towards Masters level academic study
* Diabetes module or specific diabetes training


Knowledge and Experience

* Relevant post registration experience, minimum 2 years
* Relevant diabetes speciality experience or specific interest in diabetes
* Appropriate proven leadership and management experience
* Proven commitment and experience, evidence in teaching
* Experience as preceptor / mentor
* Ability to work alone or as part of a team
* Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
* Evidence of commitment to research-based practice or evidence of project work undertaken
