Position Overview
The Director / Managing Director, Infrastructure Asset Management with a specialisation in finance is responsible for evaluating and enhancing the operational and financial performance of OMERS Infrastructure’s portfolio companies. This role works directly with portfolio companies to strengthen the finance function’s ability to provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information and KPI dashboards to track the financial performance of the company against the value creation targets set in the Business Plan.
The Director / Managing Director partners with the OMERS asset management teams and the portfolio company’s finance teams to implement performance improvement initiatives, optimise financial operations, and drive sustainable growth throughout the investment lifecycle. By leading financial transformation, this role ensures long-term value creation across the portfolio. In addition, the Director / Managing Director plays a key role in transaction activities, participating in financial due diligence for new acquisitions to assess the maturity of financial capabilities and preparing companies for successful exits. This includes ensuring financial models, reporting, and performance metrics align with buyer expectations and support the equity growth story.
Title will be commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead Asset Management Finance for OMERS Infrastructure, focusing on financial performance improvement across portfolio companies.
2. Conduct rigorous due diligence for potential acquisitions, including financial, operational, and strategic assessments to identify value creation opportunities.
3. Partner with portfolio company finance teams to implement value creation plans, including cost optimization, revenue enhancement and working capital management
4. Build strong relationships with internal investment teams and external stakeholders to support deal execution and post-acquisition integration.
5. Work closely with asset management teams to drive operational and financial transformation, including restructuring, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness.
6. Lead initiatives in financial reporting, financial governance, and risk management.
7. Monitor and report on portfolio financial performance, ensuring alignment with investment objectives and proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
8. Support business development opportunities, strategic alternatives, and exit planning, including preparation for divestitures and maximizing exit value.
9. Deliver actionable insights to senior leadership and investment committees to inform strategic decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
10. Master’s degree in Finance, Economics & Management (or equivalent).
Professional Certification:
11. Chartered Accountant (ACA CPA or equivalent).
Experience:
12. Significant experience in infrastructure, financial restructuring or corporate transformation.
13. Experience in senior leadership roles, including permanent and interim CFO positions.
14. Proven track record in financial value creation and operational improvement within portfolio companies.
15. Strong analytical, strategic, and leadership skills with the ability to influence at C-suite level.
