Position: Business Development Manager UK & IRELAND #LI-IV1
As Business Development Manager for the UK & Ireland, you will lead strategic sales efforts across an assigned portfolio of global MICE accounts. Your mission: drive M&E Business (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) revenue for Meliá Hotels International. With deep knowledge of the brand’s global offerings, you will build powerful partnerships, close high-value deals, and implement innovative strategies—delivering measurable growth across the region.
Salary: Competitive salary plus bonus.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Develop and execute tailored sales strategies in collaboration with the Head of Corporate & MICE Sales to increase share from top global accounts.
* Represent Meliá Hotels International across BT and consortia markets, acting as a brand ambassador for your portfolio of hotels with confidence and clarity.
* Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities through proactive account penetration and strong client relationship management.
* Manage the full RFP lifecycle—negotiations, implementation, and follow-up—to maximize participation of MHI properties in corporate travel programs.
* Lead impactful client meetings, hotel site visits, and familiarization trips to foster loyalty and convert business.
* Analyze account performance data to identify trends, inform strategies, and provide actionable insights for incremental revenue growth.
* Maintain up-to-date competitive intelligence across key markets to understand how MHI’s offerings compare to competitors.
* Represent MHI at industry trade shows, networking events, and client functions to increase visibility and develop new business pipelines.
Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
* Exceptional written and spoken English (Spanish is a plus).
* Background in hospitality or tourism, with hands-on experience in hotel or hotel chain sales (ISO, RSO, NSO roles preferred).
* Proficient in CRM platforms and modern sales tools. Ability to travel.
* Strategic thinker with a commercial mindset—adept at interpreting financial and market data to develop successful strategies.
* Strong communicator and relationship-builder, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
* Skilled negotiator with the ability to close deals and drive profitability.
