Technician [Off Track] – Westbury Pwy

About the Role
You will help keep our nation moving every single day by supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users. Our technicians provide the essential link between the team leader and the team's operatives, specialising in off‑track activities such as inspecting, repairing, vegetation management, drainage and ancillary structures.
Responsibilities
* Maintain, inspect and repair land alongside the track network.
* Handle demanding manual work and transport kit across tricky terrain.
* Work safely in all weather conditions, day or night, and at all times of the year.
* Support safety standards, act as a role‑model for safe working behaviours and challenge any potential risks.
* Lead the team when asked by the team leader and ensure the right competencies for safe work delivery.
Qualifications & Skills
* Leadership – able to lead, motivate and direct a team for safe and efficient work delivery.
* Effective communication – strong communication skills and ability to give clear instructions.
* Technical skills – knowledge of inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal techniques in the discipline.
* Safety – consistently role‑model safe behaviours and challenge unsafe situations.
* Problem solving – persistent in finding safe and effective solutions, keeping up to date with new standards.
* Willingness to learn – continuously develop skills and competencies.
* Relevant qualification – NVQ Level 1 or 2 in the discipline or equivalent experience.
Additional Information
* Shifts – changing shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
* Outdoor working – work outside in all weathers.
* Safety – subject to drug and alcohol testing, medical assessment, BPSS and hearing/eyesight examination.
* Driving – Category B licence required.
* Commute – must be within a 60‑minute commute of the location.
Salary & Benefits
£37,073 per annum. Some on‑call may be required at times.
