Job Description
Summary of Position:
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this team member’s responsibilities will include contract review to determine proper revenue recognition in accordance with the company’s revenue recognition policies. Responsibilities also include billing support, quality assurance, sales and VAT tax reporting, and preparing reconciliations and journal entries related to revenue and accounts receivable as part of the close process. The role involves interfacing with sales and customer service teams within the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Support the Assistant Controller with revenue recognition tasks, including reviewing sales contracts, reconciling deferred revenue, tracking lease revenue under ASC 606, and reporting revenue weekly to management.
* Billing customers, reviewing sales orders and invoices for accuracy, and identifying process improvements.
* Prepare and present monthly revenue analytics to management.
* Reconcile sales tax monthly and process sales tax write-offs in Avalara.
* Calculate annual collections reserves and record bad debt write-offs accurately.
* Support commission accruals with sales analytics and post to the general ledger monthly.
* Review credit memos, ensuring proper documentation.
* Prepare monthly VAT filings.
* Complete revenue month-end close activities as per schedule.
* Manage specific balance sheet and income statement areas.
* Assist with ad hoc projects and assignments.
Position Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA/MBA/MSA preferred.
* 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience, revenue recognition background preferred.
* Experience with Epicor or other GL systems, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
* Continuous improvement mindset, with ability to review and streamline processes.
* Experience in business systems and ERP process improvement.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
