We are seeking dedicated SEND Specialists to work with students across all ages who have a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), or Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Your Role as an SEN Advocate
- Personalised Learning: Follow and implement EHCP goals, adapting classroom activities to meet the specific sensory and cognitive needs of the student.
- Communication Support: Utilise alternative communication methods such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton, or AAC devices to give every child a voice.
- Emotional Regulation: Act as a calm consistent presence, recognising early signs of distress and using sensory breaks or de-escalation strategies to support the students wellbeing.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, and external therapists to ensure a holistic approach to the child’s development and safety.
Essential Requirements
- Exceptionally Patient: You understand that progress can be non-linear and you have the resilience to support students through challenging moments.
- Relevant Experience: This could be from a school, care setting, personal experience with family, or volunteering with SEND charities.
- Team Player: You can take direction from specialists while using your own initiative to support the students daily routine.
- Commitment: You hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing) and are 100% dedicated to Safeguarding.
