The proud home to the Sheffield Steelers Ice Hockey Team, it has a capacity of over 13,000 and hosts world‑class music tours, comedy and sporting spectacles, attracting audiences from across the UK. Renowned for its versatility and vibrant atmosphere, the arena plays a central role in Sheffield’s cultural scene, delivering exceptional experiences on and off stage.
About The Role
We have a unique opportunity to lead our operations team as Head of Operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and effective operation of Utilita Arena Sheffield with a focus on events and security. You will oversee a dedicated team ensuring compliance with all standards, policies and procedures, and drive the venue’s strategic goals. You will own and deliver the planning and delivery of events, maintaining high levels of guest and client care. You will be a creative, solution‑focused leader who evolves their team with innovative approaches. Your shift schedule will be event‑based, requiring evening, weekend and bank holiday work.

Key Responsibilities
* Manage all Events, Facilities, Estates and Security teams, and the Domestic Service provider, ensuring compliance with company policy, statutory, health and safety legislation, and training standards.
* Create and deliver an annual programme of mixed events.
* Attend events as End‑of‑Day or Duty Manager.
* Negotiate, implement and manage service contracts such as security and cleaning.
* Review and update emergency procedures and risk assessments.
We Are Looking For Someone With
* A demonstrable career in Events/Estates/Facilities/Operations in a senior management role within stadia – Essential.
* Strong knowledge of event and building management, maintenance and custodial functions across M&E, security, house‑keeping and health & safety – Essential.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build lasting relationships with stakeholders at all levels – Essential.
* Strong organisational and communication skills – Essential.
* IT and system literacy – Essential.
