The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to take ownership of a varied client portfolio and deliver high-level accounts and advisory services. You will work closely with Partners and oversee junior team members, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of year-end accounts, management accounts, VAT, and general compliance work.
This role suits someone looking for a long-term position within a supportive boutique practice.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors within the UK.

Prepare and review statutory year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.

Produce management accounts and financial reports.
*
Prepare and review VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements.
*
Provide general accounting and advisory support to clients.
*
Review work prepared by junior and offshore team members.
*
Support the continuous improvement of internal processes and client workflows.
*
Liaise with clients, HMRC, and third parties as required.
*
Ensure deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high standard.
Requirements
*
ACCA or ICAS Qualified (essential).
*
5–7+ years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
*
Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, FRS 102, FRS 105, VAT, and general compliance.
*
Confident in managing a portfolio independently.
*
Experience reviewing junior staff work (desirable).
*
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
*
Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple client deadlines.
*
Competent user of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar.
