Environmental Health Officer Private Sector Housing
Location: Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester M32 0TH (hybrid working – home, office, etc.)
Salary range: Band 8 (£40,777 to £42,839)
Working Pattern: Full Time – 36.25 hours per week (flexibility available)
Contract type: Permanent

About the Role
Trafford’s Private Sector Housing Team invites an Environmental Health Officer to support the Team Leader in enforcing a broad range of legislative requirements related to private sector housing. Responsibilities include investigating complaints of poor housing conditions, inspecting private sector properties for hazards, and enforcing follow‑up actions to bring properties to current standards. The officer will also license Houses in Multiple Occupation and work to return empty properties in the borough into use.
The role offers hybrid working flexibility – hot‑desking or home working alongside field‑based work.
About You
* A degree or diploma in Environmental Health.
* Housing Health and Safety Rating System qualification.
* Recent experience and specialist knowledge of private sector housing enforcement.
* The ability to prioritise work, manage a busy workload and meet tight deadlines.
* A passion and pride in your work.
* Excellent written and communication skills.
