Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner

Cardiff Community Resource Team is a community based multidisciplinary team consisting of Therapists, Nurses, Consultants and associated support staff. The team works to support people at home and either avoid hospital admission or facilitate early discharge, with rehabilitation being delivered within the person's own home. We work collaboratively with Cardiff Local Authority colleagues who provide domiciliary care when required. We work across the whole of the beautiful City of Cardiff to ensure support is delivered to people within their own communities and closer to home.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Main duties of the job

Principally to provide a service, under the direction of a registered practitioner, to individuals and groups within a defined area. They will work with direction to assist the registered practitioner in clinical and administrative duties following specific competency- based training. They will independently carry out low level complexity assessments and treatment programmes to both individuals and groups which have been assessed by a registered practitioner, primarily in the patients place of residence. They will progress within guidelines laid down by the registered practitioner. They will be responsible and accountable for these tasks. The post holder will work within an agreed job plan and objectives which will be reviewed yearly as part of the UHB appraisal process. They may be asked to provide treatments in other clinical areas depending on service needs.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Numerate and literate to GCSE level grades (A to C) or level 11 equivalent qualification or Recognised qualification // NVQ/QCF level 4, equivalent level of knowledge or NVQ/QCF Level 3 PLUS // Additional training to Diploma level or equivalent, or equivalent through short courses and experiences and equivalent competencies achieved and evidenced through accredited courses.
* Evidence of further education e.g. relevant Health and Social Care qualification, Exercise Rehabilitation qualification, or other relevant qualification


Experience

* Health and/or Social Care experience // Dealing with people both individually or in groups // Worked within a rehabilitation setting
* Previous experience working as a therapy support worker // Experience delivering exercise programmes // Experience in class taking


Skills

* Ability to communicate with a wide range of people // Good interpersonal skills // Good organisational skills // Ability to work as a member of a team // Ability to work alone // Awareness of own limitations // Ability to motivate people // Basic digital technology skills
* Database management skills // Teaching skills/experience // The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role
