Ward Clerk / Receptionist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated,hardworking individual to join our Paediatric Ward. Ward Clerks provide clerical support to inpatientsreceiving medical and surgical treatment, dealing with queries from patients,visitors and staff and work alongside experienced Children's nurses and medicalteams in the of Darlington Memorial Hospital, providing excellent care tochildren and young people.
There will be opportunities to develop newskills and knowledge, through training and development provided. You will be supported by the existing adminand nursing staff to ensure patients and their familes receive the best care inline with our trust values.
Main duties of the job
Toreceive patients and visitors to the ward.
To inputpatient admission, attendance, transfer and discharge data to the necessarypatient
administration & information systems, ensuring patientand GP details are accurate and updated as necessary To arrange patient followup and other appointments, as required
Toprovide administrative support to out-patient/ward-based clinics, as required
To dealwith telephone enquiries, taking and conveying messages appropriately
To sortincoming mail and prepare outgoing mail for posting
Toprepare patient admission packs, as necessary
Tomaintain and update the EPR system
Tomaintain accurate ward bed board
Tomaintain ward staff board
Tomaintain ward information board
Tomaintain adequate levels of ward stationery and supplies, using CARDEA asrequired
Torequisition repairs as necessary

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of an administrative role providing general provision of administrative duties in a challenging and constantly changing environment.
* Ability to work as a member of a team
* Reception Experience
* Experience of working in NHS environment
Qualifications
* 3 GCSE's
* NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent knowledge or experience
