Job Title: Support Assistant Job setting: Supported Living / The Cedar Foundation Location: Lisburn Job Type: Permanent Hours: 36 Hours Per week / Day and Night Roles available Salary : £10.93 per hour / Additional Hours: £12.14 per hour Reports to: Registered Manager, through Team Leaders and Deputy Manager Lucas Love Healthcare are working alongside The Cedar Foundation to recruit Support Assistants to join their team in Lisburn. This site is a Positive Behaviour Support Service (PBS) which consists of 2 dwellings, each for four men. The service offers a person-centred approach for service users who have Learning Disabilities and associated needs. The Cedar Foundation are currently offering a Welcome Bonus totalling £1000: The bonus will be £250 on successful completion of 3 months service, a further £250 on successful completion of 6 months service & a further £500 paid on first anniversary. JOB PURPOSE: The role of the Support Assistant requires a team approach at all times with effective working relationships for the benefit of the service user. · To assist service users with activities of daily living and facilitate inclusion of service users in a broad range of activities. · To support service users with identified personal care and support needs. Support Assistants are required to work flexibly and be available to work unsociable hours and public holidays on a rotational basis. MAIN DUTIES · Assist with assessment of service users’ needs. · Participate in supporting the physical and personal needs of service users · Establish goals with the service users on an individual basis to maximise their independent living potential. · Deliver individual programmes of support including social and domestic guidance, personal hygiene and community living skills. · Participate in monitoring and reviewing individual service user’s skills and needs. · When applicable, ensure that medication is stored and administered in line with company policy · Complete daily administration including updating person centred support & care plans, updating proformas and completing accurate daily notes. · Ensure unusual, complex or difficult situations are addressed and reported, referring to a senior colleague at all times. · Take responsibility for receiving and receipting all service user monies and monitoring petty cash expenditure as applicable. · Participate in cleaning as required to ensure agreed standards are maintained. · Complete night security checks in conjunction with service users and during the span of their working hours. · To undertake and maintain mandatory training including CPI Safety Intervention. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: · 6 month’s experience of providing care/support · Effective verbal and written communication to include numeracy skills · Working knowledge of the needs of people with learning disabilities · Demonstratable understanding and knowledge on behaviours that challenge DESIRABLE CRITERIA: · Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification.
