Equans is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Hatfield. This is a full-time role. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus, and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
1. Take ownership of the commercial, financial, and contractual management of multiple designated projects.
2. Lead on cost management, forecasting, valuations, and reporting to ensure profitability and compliance with contract terms.
3. Manage subcontractor accounts, procurement, and prompt payment processes, protecting Equans legal and contractual obligations.
4. Negotiate and price target costs for future framework contracts, including value engineering pre- and post-tender.
5. Ensure variations, change requests, and design changes are properly recorded and recovered.
6. Produce accurate monthly cost/valuation reports and cash flows, providing commercial insight to senior management.
7. Work closely with legal counsel to prepare contractual documentation and mitigate commercial risks.
8. Collaborate with contract managers on planning, subcontractor selection, and materials procurement.
9. Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business development opportunities.
10. Manage and mentor a commercial team of surveyors (Assistant to Project level), supporting their professional development and performance.

Who are you?
22. Experienced in a senior surveying role within a main contractor environment (preferably new build), with proven client-facing skills.
23. Strong knowledge of JCT suite of contracts, with the ability to manage complex commercial and contractual matters.
24. Technical understanding of construction methods, including modern methods of construction, steel frame, and concrete frame.
25. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
26. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (RICS accreditation desirable).
27. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
28. Confident, adaptable, and able to lead and mentor a commercial team.
