Job Title: Bookkeeper / Assistant AccountantHours: Part-time 25–30 hours per week (with potential to be full-time permanent)
Location: Nottingham Office (fully office-based during part-time period; flexible hybrid working available if full-time)
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum (pro rata)

Hays Accountancy and Finance are working with a growing and dynamicpany operating across the UK with offices in London and Nottingham. They are currently expanding and looking for a confident, experienced finance professional to join our close-knit, supportive team.
Role Overview:This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and proactive accounts professional to take ownership of a broad range of finance tasks. You’ll be working closely with the Director,pany Secretaries, and external accountants, supporting the business with day-to-day financial operations and helping to streamline processes as we continue to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain accurate financial records using Xero and Excel
2. Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
3. Process weekly payroll and manage timesheets
4. Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and supplier payments
5. Support with CIS submissions and tax-related tasks
6. Assist with management accounts and liaise with external accountants
7. Monitor cash flow and reconcile bank accounts
8. Handle general finance admin and ad hoc duties as required
9. Suggest improvements and take initiative in streamlining financial processes
Key Skills & Experience:
10. Proven experience in a similar finance or accounting role
11. Strong working knowledge of VAT, payroll, and general finance
12. Experience with CIS and management accounts is highly desirable
13. Proficient in Xero and Microsoft Excel
14. Confident, proactive, and able to work independently without close supervision
15. Qualifications (AAT, ACCA, etc.) are wee but not essential experience and fit are more important
