Job Summary
The Emergency Medicine Division is a fast‑paced environment where no two days are the same. We are looking for highly motivated and adaptable team members who are enthusiastic about providing the best care for our patients while they are at their most vulnerable. The Division sees high patient turnover, so you need to be confident in delivering care while maintaining patients' privacy and dignity.
You will work alongside our friendly and professional team in the Emergency Department, Emergency Assessment Unit, or Acute Admissions Unit to ensure patient safety and care.
Main duties
As a Healthcare Support Worker you will be an essential part of the nursing team, providing hands‑on personal care and encouraging patients to be as independent as possible. You will put patients first, providing the best care every day.

We are recruiting for full‑time positions covering a 24‑hour, 7‑day a week shift pattern (rotational shifts, with enhanced pay for weekends and nights). Full‑time posts involve working 3 long days/nights per week with 1 week in 4 working a 4‑day week. Part‑time posts involve working 2 long days/nights per week. Shifts are 12.5 hours long (including an hour for breaks), starting at 7:15 am–7:45 pm or 7:15 pm–7:45 am, covering all days, nights and bank holidays. We cannot accommodate day‑only or night‑only shift patterns.
Person Specification
Essential
* Good general education.
* Good standard of written and spoken English.
* Willingness to undertake The Care Certificate, Skills for Care & Skills for Health.
* Broad general experience.
* Understands the role of a Healthcare Assistant.
Desirable
* NVQ Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
* English GCSE A*‑C, 4‑9 or Functional skills level 2.
* Maths GCSE A*‑C, 4‑9 or Functional skills level 2.
* Previous training in First Aid.
* Previous experience in a health setting.
