Overview PepsiCo R&D is looking for R&D Analytical Laboratory Associate Analyst to join on 9 months Fixed Term Contract and be based in Leicester. Job Purpose In this role you will be part of Measurement Sciences team, working within the R&D analytical laboratory at Beaumont Park. The role is responsible for providing critical analytical testing on analyses related to food safety. The main focus will involve horizon scanning new methods with a view to developing and validating those methods to build in-house capability. Responsibilities Support the day-to-day management of testing programs, managing and prioritizing the testing schedule for regulatory program samples, new product development samples and business continuity projects. Support Horizon Scanning activities on food safety issues, building knowledge on methods and capabilities to assess commercial viability Develop methods and conduct validation studies against specified business criteria. Booking in of samples for analytical testing and review test results and entry onto LIMs. Ensure that all required stock is managed and ordered in a timely manner to enable smooth flow of workload. Perform accurate analysis and reporting of analytical samples in compliance with PepsiCo Global procedures and standards. Responsible for the sample preparation and analysis of core simple, core complex testing and samples for field support. Supports team on projects/validation by providing the necessary analysis required. Reporting of analytical results to relevant partners, within agreed timelines. Troubleshoots technical issues relating to laboratory analysis, carrying out simple maintenance as required. Responsibility for equipment calibration and maintenance schedule for the lab on instrumentation associated with relevant analyses. Training all new technicians in accordance to PepsiCo requirements. Work with Quality Manager to ensure compliance to Quality Management System, as well as ISO17025 requirements and accreditation body requirements. Capture internal and partner feedback and maintain complaints log, highlighting any outcomes to team or leadership as appropriate. Support program leads with regards to testing requirements, appropriate / approved external laboratories and the review and reporting of results Demonstrate adherence to site Health & Safety and Good Laboratory Practice policies and procedures. Support specific lab activities such as COSHH assessments, permit writers and others as needed. Qualifications Degree in Chemistry or closely related subject Advanced knowledge or relevant industrial experience in the development and application of GC-MS and/or LC-MS in an R&D or academic research environment. At least 2 years' experience in industry or academia Experience of method development and validation to an ISO 17025 standard Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, flexible and adaptable.
