Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Acute Inpatients
This is a senior Speech & Language Therapy post working in Acute Stroke Team.

This post would suit an established band 6 looking to further develop their specialist skills in a Stroke environment or a suitably experienced band 5, looking for the next opportunity in your career.
The successful applicant will have a good level of experience working in an stroke environment and managing a dysphagia caseload. You will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and have a good understanding of MDT working.
The position will involve delivering specialist assessment, management, and treatment for acute inpatients with both communication and swallowing difficulties. You will work closely with colleagues in the wider multi-disciplinary team and alongside experienced clinicians benefiting from expert knowledge and skills to support your own development, including instrumental assessment. Opportunity to rotate between acute and Stroke can be considered in the future.

Main Duties of the job
To provide an effective and efficient speech and language therapy service to adult clients within the inpatient setting. You will manage a specialist adult caseload in this clinical area. Duties will include providing a specialist level of clinical expertise in the assessment, treatment and management of adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties, planning therapy programmes and discharge of patients.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent
* Member of RCSLT
* Registered with HCPC
* Member of CEN relevant to client group
* Evidence of attendance on relevant specialist courses
Experience
* Post graduate dysphagia training and experience
* Proven relevant clinical experience at post graduate level
* Experience of multi disciplinary team working
* Experience of managing complex cases
* Experience of supervising undergraduate SLT students
* Experience of supervising Speech and Language Therapy Assistants
* Relevant experience with Voice outpatients and Voice disorders.
