Lead Practice Nurse required in Milton Keynes up to £55k per annum! We have an amazing job opportunity for a full-time Lead Practice Nurse to be based in a busy GP surgery in Milton Keynes. As the team leader for the general practice nursing team, you will be accountable for nursing service delivery, lead and manage all nursing resources, working closely with the GPs and practice manager to deliver the practice priorities. Clinically, the focus of the role is the delivery of evidence-based practice for patients with acute and chronic conditions and management and preventative nursing interventions for all patients. You will work collaboratively with the whole general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery and procedures and providing leadership and direction for the nursing team.
Responsibilities
* Help develop the nursing services offered by the practice.
* Provide clinical leadership within the nursing teams.
* Ensure the highest standards of care are provided for patients.
* Manage and develop a clinical acute and chronic caseload, dealing with presenting patients’ needs in a primary care setting.
* Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, appropriate to patient needs and in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols.
* Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
* Deliver a high standard of patient care using specialist practice nurse skills.
Qualifications
* Essential
o Adult nursing qualification
o Qualified to degree level
o NMC adult nursing registration
o Clinical supervision training and experience
o Knowledge and active participant in QOF/DES/LES/KPI's and maximising achievement in nurse-led areas.
o Clinical audits knowledge & experience
o Minimum 5 years post-registration experience; at least 2 years recent primary and community nursing experience
* Desirable
o Extended and supplementary prescribing qualification
o Holding or working towards qualifications in family planning, asthma, diabetes, CHD and cytology
o Travel medicine
o Mentor/ teaching qualification
